The problem

Let f(z)f(z) be an entire transcendental function. Does there exist a path LL so that, for every nn,

∣f(z)/zn∣→∞\lvert f(z)/z^n\rvert \to \infty

as z→∞z\to \infty along LL?

Can the length of this path be estimated in terms of M(r)=max⁡∣z∣=r∣f(z)∣M(r)=\max_{\lvert z\rvert=r}\lvert f(z)\rvert? Does there exist a path along which ∣f(z)∣\lvert f(z)\rvert tends to ∞\infty faster than a fixed function of M(r)M(r) (such that M(r)ϵM(r)^\epsilon)?

AI contributions

As recorded in Terence Tao's wiki AI contributions to Erdős problems (data as of 30 Jun 2026). 🟢 full, 🟡 partial, ⚪ unverified, 🔴 incorrect.

Caveats

The wiki's classifications are provisional and are not a benchmark. Many Erdős problems have never had a thorough literature review, so a result that looks new may later turn out to be known; some problems were also stated ambiguously or incorrectly. See the problem page for the full discussion.
