The problem

Let f(n)f(n) be maximal such that in any 22-colouring of the subsets of {1,…,n}\{1,\ldots,n\} there is always a monochromatic family of at least f(n)f(n) sets which is closed under taking unions and intersections. Estimate f(n)f(n).

Let F(n)F(n) be defined similarly, except that we only require the family be closed under taking unions. Estimate F(n)F(n). In particular, is it true that F(n)≥nω(n)F(n)\geq n^{\omega(n)} for some ω(n)→∞\omega(n)\to \infty as n→∞n\to \infty, and F(n)<(1+o(1))nF(n)<(1+o(1))^n?

Caveats

The wiki's classifications are provisional and are not a benchmark. Many Erdős problems have never had a thorough literature review, so a result that looks new may later turn out to be known; some problems were also stated ambiguously or incorrectly. See the problem page for the full discussion.
